Role Outline

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this senior position functions as the business leader for all areas of operations of the Bank, focusing on both the issuance of core banking products and E-Money and payments. We are looking for an individual with excellent interpersonal skills who can manage Client expectations and embrace innovation.

 

Principal objectives and responsibilities:

• Responsible for the operational strategy of the Bank advising the Board and Senior Management Team on all matters related to Clients, operational processes and policies.
• Ensure that operations align with the Bank’s goals and performance targets.
• Assist the Managing Director to execute the Boards strategy including development and implement the Bank’s strategic vision and long-term plans. Also develop and implement procedures and
business plans to enhance growth.
• Management of the Client Relationships, E-Money and Bank Operations teams including primary point of escalation.
• Ensure operational compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Work closely with the Corporate Banking and future Credit Teams on the development of the Bank’s product offering and enhanced functionality.
• Assist the Managing Director with marketing strategies and development of marketing tools, systems and execution of campaigns.
• Plan and manage the day-to-day running of the Banks’ operations to meet Client expectations ensuring SLA’s are adhered to.
• Manage the continual implementation and integrations relating to core E-money systems including Google and Apple Pay, transaction monitoring, reconciliations and banking lite systems. Ongoing management of same systems and monitoring the MI and costs.
• Ability to work with Technology team within the Bank on technology synergies and upgrades.
• Oversee the leading of multiple projects simultaneously.
• Work with Head of Banking Systems & Information to establish robust Business Continuity processes and procedures.
• Quarterly attendance and presentation of Operations and Client updates to Board of Directors.
• Any ad-hoc projects and requests as required by the Managing Director.
• Lead the relationships with Mastercard, Visa, processors and card manufacturers.
• Full understanding of Mastercard and Visa scheme rules.
• Ensure that the Bank’s reporting requirements are met.
• Establish a solid working relationship with Clients obtaining a full understanding of their business, recommending solutions to operational challenges.
• Work closely with the Compliance, Technology and Finance departments to ensure a consistent operational approach.
• Liaise with counterparts in Malta to ensure deliverables are being met in relation to outsourced functions and ensure SLAs are adhered to.

• Self starter, with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload effectively.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to break down complex ideas and technical language for a non-subject matter expert.
• Innovative, demonstrating a proactive approach to finding solutions.
• Technical background, familiarity of working in banking / payments.
• Develop rapport and build strong relationships with different functions of the Bank.
• Be able to work closely and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with an analytical mind and strong problem-solving skill.
• Focused individual that is personable with good attention to detail.
• Good decision making capabilities with a pragmatic approach.
• Familiarity with projects and the full lifecycle.
• Ability to use initiative, chair meetings and steer/influence discussions.
• Good research skills.
• Technically-minded.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Mastercard and Visa products and processes.

Experience/knowledge/Education

• Managerial experience at a senior level.
• A good understanding of the regulatory environment in financial services.
• Knowledge of the workings of budgets.
• Technological knowledge.
• Understanding of European and UK Banking Regulations, preferable.

 

The holder of this position will be expected to pass the required background checks in line with the Bank’s policy.
